After successfully holding the first Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for languages, mathematics and science subjects in June, the state examination board will now conduct TET for social science subjects in August.
Secretary of primary education, RP Gupta, said that TET for social sciences will be held in August and an advertisement about it will be placed in the newspapers soon.
He further said that more than 1 lakh aspiring teachers are expected to take the eligibility exam, which will also consist of two parts. While Part I will be compulsory, Part II will contain questions on social science subjects.
Answers will have to marked on Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheets that will be given to examinees with the question papers.
TET for primary teachers has been held by the state education department for the first time. Clearing this test has been made mandatory for those seeking jobs as teachers in class I to VIII.
A total of 1,10,882 candidates had registered for the TET for languages, mathematics and sciences. Out of this, 6,000 were from Ahmedabad city and 5,012 were from Ahmedabad rural.
