Additional Joint Collector S. Ramesh Kumar on Friday said aspiring teachers appeared for Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in 71 exam centres set up for the purpose in the city.
Mr. Ramesh Kumar went round some of the centres to monitor arrangements. He said that elaborate police bandobust was made in and around the exam centres to prevent malpractice.
Of the total 1,983 candidates who applied for SGT and teacher posts, 1,501 of them took the test, registering 76 per cent of presence of the candidates.
In the evening session meant for school assistants and language pundits, of the total 15,711 applicants, 14,594 aspirants wrote the exam, registering 93 per cent presence.
Some of the visually impaired aspirants took the help of students to write the test.
TIGHT SECURITY
To ensure smooth conduct of the exam, officials from various wings were deployed. They included 14 district-level officers, 71 chief superintendents, 71 department officials and 800 invigilators.
The answers sheets were shifted to Hyderabad immediately after the exam.
